Grain Free Cake Doughnuts were created for you! They were created for those moments when you just feel like having a doughnut. Besides their incredible texture and taste they are also free of tree nut flours! They are lightly sweetened with small amounts of coconut sugar and maple syrup.
If you have ever tried to buy a doughnut that is without grains, refined sugar, and corn you know it is impossible! I find that when kids, and adults, do not feel like they have to give up their favorite foods forever they can consistently stick to a daily nutritious diet. It is very pleasant to have options for special occasions and moments you just want to eat a doughnut!
Grain Free Cake Doughnuts are simple to prepare. The best part is they come out the doughnut plan easily!!!! If you have ever baked doughnuts, you hold your breathe and wait to see if the doughnuts stick and come out piece by piece, or slide out effortlessly. I used coconut oil to grease each doughnut mold and they came out wonderful!
Americans love doughnuts! In fact they love them so much that over 10 billion doughnuts are made each year. Doughnuts have grown from an accidental fried dough creation to fried dough that mainly consists of sugar and fat! The average frosted doughnut has a calorie count of just over 300 calories. The average carbohydrate count is 35 grams, which is almost half of what a person needs on a daily basis. I’m guessing most people do not eat doughnuts thinking it’s nutritious and good for their bodies.
Grain Free Cake Doughnuts are an exceptional alternative to the refined sugar and flour counterparts.

- 1/4 c. Organic coconut sugar
- 2 T. Maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp. Real Salt
- 1/4 c. Organic butter or coconut oil, softened

- 1/4 c. Unsweetened Organic Coconut Flakes, finely shredded Optional
Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease doughnut baking pans with coconut oil.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flours, cinnamon, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Using a whisk, stir dry ingredients.
In a small mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, coconut sugar and vanilla together. Add in two room temperature eggs and beat.
Combine the dry and wet ingredients. Stir. Spoon the batter into the greased doughnut pan. Fill until it's almost to the top. This batter fills 9 doughnut molds.
Bake for 12-15 minutes. The doughnuts are done when you press gently on the doughnut and it springs back. Remove from the oven. Let them cool for 5 minutes. Gently remove and place doughnuts on a cooling rack.
Optional topping: Melt 1/2 c. of Enjoy Life chocolate chips in a small saucepan. Spread the chocolate evenly over a cooled doughnut. Sprinkle with unsweetened finely flaked coconut. Enjoy!

Since not all brands of flour are created equal, I will share with you the exact ingredients I used in this recipe. Anthony’s Arrowroot Flour and Anthony’s Cassava Flour I purchase through amazon. The best coconut flour I have used for baking is Nutiva Organic Coconut Flour. I purchase the Nutiva flour, Wholesome Coconut Sugar, and Frontier Vanilla Extract through Vitacost. The organic ground cinnamon I buy in the bulk spice section at my local co-op. I purchase just enough cinnamon to last me the month, in order to bake with fresh ingredients. We always buy local Michigan maple syrup, the darker grade the better. Please do not hesitate to contact me about any of the ingredients.
