Value of a Life Planner
Begin to organize life. Live each day with Purpose. We value organization and being purposeful but they do not come naturally. After partnering with Nerium International, I heard people talk about the value of a life planner. This particular planner was designed to assist entrepreneurs in becoming focused, successful and purposeful. One focus of the planner is create a personal vision statement. Your vision statement will be the guide to living your life with purpose.
David Byrd Consulting created a tool called an Achievement Planner. When put into practice this planner will indeed assist you in living life with purpose.
Achievement Planner: a book that assists you with organizing life and living intentionally!!
Training
The training CD that comes with this planner is excellent! The author of the planner, David Byrd, encourages the listener to take baby steps to learn the process of planning and being intentional with every day. The training consists of six levels. The listener can learn by putting the achievement planner into action before moving on to the next lesson. You will be encouraged to listen to the CD several times and take notes! It will be very rewarding to begin the process of mastering the skill of being purposeful and intentional with each day!
The Achievement Planner is is designed to assist with;
- setting personal goals,
- managing a household,
- organizing a business,
- appointments,
- organizing notes,
- responsibilities,
- recording family events,
- and tracking life goals.
How do I use the planner to live life on purpose?
The first step is sit down each week to plan the week ahead. I chose to do this every Sunday afternoon.
- Write in appointments.
- Write in weekly errands or travel obligations, such as grocery shopping or going on a field trip.
- Write in times for exercise, reading my Bible, making a grocery list, checking on social media
- Write in times to work on personal goals.
One thing I am continuously learning is to not over schedule myself!!! I need to allow time for life to happen, such as an unexpected phone call, correcting a lengthy home-school exam, or getting in a long line at the grocery store.
“If life is getting in the way of my plan; I am over planning!” Jenni Byrd Grier (Next Level Achievement Coach)
At the end of the day, I evaluate to see if the important items were done. Not all activities or “to do items” are urgent, so they can be bumped to the next day. Next, look at your tomorrow and make modifications to that day.
Teaching your teenager to use a day planner.
Teens can begin with a simple day planner. This allows them to practice organizing their days, setting priorities, and remembering to fulfill obligations. They will need instruction on how to organize and be purposeful about each day.
It is important to my daughters that their planners fit their lifestyle. They wanted it to be unique, easy to use & visually appealing. The planners they chose for 2017, were from Orange Circle Studio. These particular planners have a section for setting yearly goals, recording what books they want to read, places to visit, as well as a monthly and weekly planning area.
How do my teens use a day planner? They set aside time at the beginning of the week to plan the week ahead. They schedule in chicken chores, monthly health checks and when to purchase chicken feed. In light of their goals for school, their blog, or 4-H, they will reserve a time in their week to fulfill those projects.
A Valuable Skill
Learning to use a day planner or achievement planner is a valuable skill. It is like other skills, it takes time and practice to learn. My days became more intentional when I put into practice a daily personal management system! Whether I like it or not my daily activities track my habits and my behavior.
“Achievement becomes a lifestyle. We are constantly making choices. We can chose to grow or we can chose to decline.” David Byrd (Author of utilizing a system of personal management and achievement.)
Is it worth my time and energy to invest in an achievement planner? Would it help me to live my life with purpose? Yes! It not only assists with having reasonable expectations for each day but I find I am not over committing myself. When I plan tomorrow before it happens; I find it makes the next day less stressful.
If you find that this type of planner would help you Live Life with Purpose, you can purchase, the Achievement Planner through David Byrd Consulting.
