Toxins & Your Body
Toxins rob our body of energy, triggers inflammation, promotes pre-mature aging, and causes our body to have issues (especially digestion issues.)
How we’re going to approach a natural detox (without a special powder or pill):
- Looking at six ways our body naturally detoxes.
- Recommended vegetables, fruits, herbs, and tips to aid in detoxing that particular organ.
- Practical action steps to apply immediately.
Lymph System
The lymph system is amazing! It works to remove infection, viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens.
Beneficial food to incorporate into your diet this week; ginger root, turmeric, lemon, lime, grapefruit, seaweed, and garlic. Two herbs that are known to support this system during a detox is astragalus extract and goldenseal.
Movement is required to thoroughly detox our lymph system. Chose to exercise your body or get a therapeutic massage.
ACTION PLAN: Start your day with a lemon & ginger herbal tea. (I recommend Organic India Tulsi Lemon and Ginger Tea.) Chose to do side stretches and take a brisk walk several times this week. Give yourself a massage by visiting Rochelle Clark for a video demonstrating; “Self Lymphathic Neck Massage“.
Lungs
Our lungs filter the air we breathe. Now that is a HUGE job! Our lungs need to filter out toxins in our environment, airborne allergens, and mold spores.
Beneficial food to incorporate is eating radishes and cooking with cayenne pepper.
Other ways to cleanse our lungs, include breathing in salty ocean air, purposeful deep breathing exercises, and using a Himalayan salt pipe or stick.
Peppermint essential oil and lavender essential oil are wonderful to inhale to aid in detoxing the lungs.
ACTION PLAN: Each day set aside 5 minutes to purposefully breathe deep.
Liver
The liver is a huge filtering system for our body. Daily the liver filters out the toxins in our blood.
Food to include in your diet this week; Brussel sprouts, broccoli, garlic, micro-greens, juice from a lemon, beets, eggs, wild-caught salmon.
Dandelion Tea is known for it’s cleansing properties, specifically for the liver.
ACTION PLAN: Begin your day with a glass of lemon water, as this will assist in eliminating toxins and stimulate your stomach acids. Serve yourself roasted beets & fresh salmon this week.
Kidneys
Our wonderful kidneys flush waste and toxins from our blood after coming from the liver.
What to drink this week; at least 64 oz. of filtered water, green tea (with ginger), nettles tea, and cranberry juice (with blueberries).
ACTION PLAN: Keep a water log to track how much you drink each day. Drink a cup of green tea and or nettles tea. (I start every day with Green Tea Kombucha.) Note: 10 Apps to track your water use – for free.
Colon
The colon is a large system that rids our body of solid waste. Our colon needs frequent eliminating to detox properly. Unfortunately, the average American stores days worth of waste in their colon.
The BEST option to promote elimination and detoxing is eating fermented veggies and taking an oral probiotic. Soluble and insoluble fiber is necessary to move waste through the colon. Incorporate chia seeds into your food choices. Root vegetables, like beets, turnips and sweet potato, promote a healthy colon.
ACTION STEP: Commit to taking a daily probiotic or consuming fermenting vegetables. Make a conscious effort to eat vegetables high in fiber, at least once a day.

Skin
Our skin is the most overlooked organ that removes toxins from our body. Sweat releases toxins through our skin. It’s important to cleanse your skin after exercise to remove the toxins from our skin.
It’s important to take care with what we put on our skin. I recommend reading the ingredient list of products you put on her skin. Key ingredients to avoid are as follows: BHA, BHT, sodium laurel sulfate, parabens, petroleum, phthalates, retinol, and fragrance.
Ways to cleanse and detox our skin; take epsom salt bathes, visit a dry heat sauna, and exercise until you sweat. Foods that aid in detoxing our skin are blueberries, purple cabbage, and beets.
ACTION PLAN: Snack on blueberries this week. Plan to take a bath with epsom salts, add a few drops of lavender oil to your bath for better results.
