Elderberry Syrup

Ingredients

  • 4 c. purified water
  • 1 c. dried elderberries
  • 1 c. raw honey
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2-4 slices fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp. rose hips

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan add the water, elderberries, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and rose hips.  Bring to a low simmer.  

  2. Simmer for a solid 45 minutes.

  3. Using a sturdy metal strainer, strain out the extract into a glass mixing bowl.

  4. Set aside to cool.

  5. When cool enough to touch, add the raw honey.

  6. Stir and refrigerate.

  7. Lasts 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator.
