Chia Cacao Collagen Smoothie is perfect for breakfast or snacking! It’s dairy-free, gluten-free, and nutrient dense. I truly get excited over a smoothie with these kind of ingredients.
You know how animal enthusiasts get excited over seeing their favorite animals in the wild or bird watchers checking off a new bird? Well, that is how excited I get when I can make a smoothie that my body will love! And tastes wonderful!! (My daughters are groaning about right now!)

Chia Seeds. Excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. High in fiber, rich in antioxidants, plus they contain essential minerals like calcium and iron.
Banana. Best known for its high potassium content. It also contains magnesium, vitamin B, and fiber. They provide the sweetness and texture to your smoothie.
Cacao Powder. This superfood is high in antioxidants and flavonoids. Cacao regulates our blood sugar, and boosts our mood. Need to know more: “14 Ridiculously Good Reasons to Eat Cacao” by Food Matters.
Collagen. Contains protein and essential amino acids our body needs. It helps improve our gut health, our skin and joints. Read more on 10 Ways Your Body Benefits from Collagen.
Spinach. A nutrient dense dark leafy green! It gives us energy by providing iron and vitamin C. It’s also high in magnesium, potassium and calcium. (Bonus: it’s a low calorie food.)
Raw Honey. This sticky sweetener works as a prebiotic and makes food easier to digest and nutrients to be absorbed.
First, gather your ingredients. You’ll need a cold (or frozen) banana. Keep in the mind the more ripe the banana, the sweeter it will taste. Grab chia seeds, powdered collagen, cacao powder, dairy-free milk, and raw honey. Next, grind your chia seeds into a chia powder.
Why do I grind the chia seeds before adding them to the smoothie?
The number one reason for grinding them is for texture. It provides a smoothness to the smoothie. Plus, I knew my daughters would not even taste this smoothie if they saw floating chia seeds in it.
It’s a great way to get the benefits of chia seeds if you have issues with their texture. Grinding them also allows for them to be easily digested.
Please note, if you are using a high powered blender (like a Vitamix), you can skip this step and add them directly to your smoothie.

Chia Cacao Collagen Smoothie
Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Egg free.
Ingredients
- 1 cold banana organic
- 1 c. dairy-free milk like coconut milk
- ½ – 1 c. fresh spinach organic
- 2 T. multi collagen protien powder
- 2 T. cacao powder organic
- 2 T. chia seeds organic
- 5-6 cubes ice
- 1 T. raw honey
Instructions

A couple hours before you plan to make this smoothie, peel, cut and freeze one banana. You can do this overnight as well.

In a small blender, grind your chia seeds. I like to use a small coffee bean grinder. Set aside.

In a high powered blender, add your dairy free milk, ice cubes, banana chunks, spinach, collagen, cacao powder, chia seeds, and raw honey.

Blend until smooth, approximately 20-30 seconds.

Serve immediately!
