Forming new habits takes time! Give yourself a good 30 days of practicing Energy Boosting Habits. Recording what you eat and drink will track your progress. Download and print a Food Journal to help you succeed.
This will be fun! We all need more energy!!! I have found that certain foods either give energy or cause me to slow down.
The food we consume daily either gives us energy or depletes us of energy. It’s the same for our choices of drinks. What we drink will be harmful or helpful to our body and energy levels. One more area that contributes to our energy levels is our daily habits.
Jump right into the 3 Habits that Give You More Energy.
- Chose food that boosts energy
- Daily drinks that boost energy
- Routines/Habits that give us more energy
Habit #1 – Chose Food that Boosts Your Energy
It always comes back to what we feed our body! Does anyone else find it fascinating and even fun to see what we consume has a noticeable outcome?? The list below does not include every single food that give us energy, just a sampling.
14 common foods that we can easily include in our daily diet:
- Sweet Potato
- Wild Caught Salmon
- Free-range organic eggs (fried, boiled, scrammbled)
- Bananas
- Chia seeds & Pumpkin seeds
- Beets (Organic dried beet chips for snacking)
- Old Fashioned oats
- Dark Chocolate Bar (70% cacao or higher) – 4 packs
- Berries – goji, blueberry, strawberry
- Organic Quinoa
- Fermented foods like sauerkraut
- Avocados
- Nuts – almonds and walnuts
- Smoked oysters
They all sound so delicious!!! Well, except the smoked oysters, but that is only because I haven’t tried them yet. In order to turn this list into a habit, refer back to it when you create your weekly menu.
Another area we can be intentional is with our snacking. If you’re looking for more energy, set aside the pre-packaged food and create your own that includes the above ingredients. Two of my favorites are Blueberry Vanilla Chia Pudding and Gluten Free Chocolate Mint Granola Bars (they contain cacao powder, oats, and quinoa!)
Be patient and intentional with what you feed your body! You’ve got this habit!!!!
Habit #2 – Consume Energy Boosting Drinks
Pause before reaching for another cup of coffee or purchasing a commercial energy drink. They might give you momentary energy but they will also come with a health risk. Thankfully we have many choices when it comes to energy giving drinks.
Consider these 10 Healthy Energy giving drinks:
- Water
- Yerba Mate tea bags
- Green Tea Ginger
- Homemade bone broth
- Tulsi / Holy Basil Tea – immune support, energizing, & stress relieving
- Coconut water
- Kombucha – fermented tea
- Vegetable juice
- Green smoothies
- Lemon-Limeade (naturally sweetened)
I really like this list of choices!!! You knew that water was going to be at the top of the list. I personally love cold or warm green tea (with ginger). My daughter likes to drink coconut water on days that she has a race.
One drink I am looking forward to trying is Yerba Mate Tea. I learned it is a tea made from the dried leaves of the evergreen holly. It’s really fascinating to learn about the culture behind this drink. It also has an impressive list of nutrients. “10 Health Benefits of Yerba Mate Tea” by Be Brain Fit.

Habit #3 Develop Daily Energy Boosting Routines
Unfortunately we can eat energy boosting food and drink water every day, but if we don’t get adequate sleep at night, we still won’t have energy. In order to have energy that will last all day long, we need to either break a few unhealthy habits and/or develop new habits.
10 Healthy Habits to Develop for more Energy:
- Quality sleep (approximately 7-9 hours)
- Say good-bye to Unhealthy Habits
- Healthy social situations
- Daily consuming a variety of vegetables
- Avoid refined sugars
- Manage stress: Healthy Stress Management
- Regular exercise (lifting, walking, kettlebells, stretching, pilates, swimming, etc.)
- Applying peppermint essential oil (ships directly from the company)
- Intentionally seek sunshine (15-20 minutes; weather permitting)
- Develop a morning routine
Obviously some habits are easier than others! One way to avoid refined sugars, is to not purchase products that contain sugar.
Do you find eating vegetables every single day is a struggle?? Hopefully this post will give you ideas and encourage you: Tips on Eating Healthy Vegetables Daily.
Recently I read an article on the benefits of visiting the beach or any large body of water. The atmosphere around water increases negative ions making it better for our health. Another article I found fascinating was “Healing Qualities of Ocean Air” in how it relates to our health and energy. When you don’t live near water or the ocean this one would be difficult. However, it would make a wonderful vacation destination.
Energy Boosting Habits
When pursuing better health, we have to be intentionally about our daily actions. You got this !! I know I make it sound too simple.
However, I understand that we don’t always “feel” like preparing good meals. Or even planning ahead to brew a batch of kombucha or green tea. One solution I have is to develop a routine for yourself. Since I have those moments too, I set blocks of time during the week to process my kombucha, make homemade granola bars, create a grocery list and fit in outdoor walks.
